Twings are fun t-shirts with wings! They are a small family owned company with a super-creative product and an awesome social mission. A portion of their profits go to support Stomp Out Bullying. We love that!! Twings are not your typical kids shirt…they are a shirt and a costume wrapped up in one fun package! There are a variety of fun characters developed by the father son duo behind the brand. Their sizing ranges from about a size 3-8. Check them all out here!
Geodesic Climbing Domes are an awesome open ended climbing structure for kids of all ages to let their imaginations run wild. . I have seen my kids turn it into a tent, house, animal den, club, and my friend even hung her swing from hers! There are so many creative ways kids can use these domes and they take up less space in a yard than a typical playground. This Lifetime Geodesic Dome is incredibly sturdy and the green and tan color scheme allows it to blend into your backyard.
Slack lines. Fun for the whole family from pre-schoolers to parents. They don’t take up a huge amount of space and are relatively portable to take to a park, camping or the neighbors. Here is a great starter to add to your backyard and picnic fun. You can also add on with 36 foot “ninja” course obstacles like rings, rickety ladders, nets and swings! If you need a longer line, here is a 56 ft set. Gift this for hours of outdoor fun, building strength, balance and problem solving!
Flashlight or headlamp. Seems too simple, right? But, how much fun have your kids had when they come across the giant flashlight in your drawer? Can anyone say flashlight tag? And, how about camping? My kids LOVE having their own headlamps. It was a really big deal for them. I recommend going with an “adult version” of either since the ones marketed to kids are typically pretty flimsy. I really like this set of two flashlights for the price, durability and different settings. These Foxelli headlamps come in a set of two and great for the kids because they are pretty lightweight compared to other models.
Nature backpack. For the budding naturalist, I love the idea of a nature backpack. A small camera (dust off that one at home you never use anymore, or try this Instamax and print pics on the go), notebook, colored pencils and binoculars are a great start for backyard adventures and hikes big and small. Add a small pouch from home or one like this to collect small samples. Kids can document what they find along the way! When you get home, print pictures and add to the notebook to create a nature journal for the year.
Giant Art Jar. For those days you just don’t get outside (or maybe you take the art outside!), inspire creativity with this giant jar of craft supplies!! A fresh batch of art supplies always gets those creative juices flowing in our house!
Giant Coloring Poster because sometimes bigger is better! Spread out on the floor or hang on the wall for a coloring project big enough for the whole family to enjoy! I like to pick up a couple things like this that I save for after Christmas during that week or so before the kids go back to school.
